More Than Ghost Stories ‘Round The Fire…

A friend informed me about a haunted camping excursion going on in Los Angeles this June. My interest peaked when I checked out their website and learned more about the event. “Campers will be lured out of their tents into the darkness…” I think that’s the line that sold me.

Monster Supplies

If the architecture and history alone didn’t sell me on wanting to go on a trip to London, this shop certainly does! Perfectly named ‘Hoxton Street Monster Supplies‘ is, well as they so cleverly put it, a purveyor of quality goods for monsters of every kind. Located on the beautiful Hoxton Street in London, ‘Monster Supplies’ was established in 1818 and just recently went under a renovation and has now reopened again to the public. The store boasts beautiful wood shelving from wall to wall showcasing a wide array of everything a monster would need. From vintage tins containing ‘Mortal Terror’ to glass jars of ‘Sorrow’ and ‘Anger’, you’re sure to find the perfect gift here for your fellow fiends or, of course, your own inner monster.

At this time unfortunately they only cater to the London area, however you can sometimes find their products for sale on eBay. Hopefully soon they will expand their shipping to the U.S. Would love to give these out as gifts and stock up on them myself.

Sinister Food

I love food. I mean, who doesn’t? You need to eat it to survive. Plus, there are so many terrific ways to prepare it. After all, you eat with your eyes first. So there’s no reason your food shouldn’t look as good as it tastes. I’ve always enjoyed going through different recipes for the Halloween season and trying new ways to both prepare and display them. Here are some of my favorites that I have gathered on Pinterest.

Halloween at Roger’s Gardens

I’ve read about Roger’s Gardens a lot in the past and how impressive not only is their Halloween merchandise but also their displays. It wasn’t until I saw photos online when I believed all the stories! I’ve yet to visit them as they’re about an hour away, but I think a pumpkin spice latte and a nice autumn drive will be on the agenda this year.

Heaven?

A Very Merry Christmas

Halloween and Christmas are two holidays that I am truly passionate about. I find both to be very magical and haunting at the same time. They both share a huge part of my heart and always will. From the gentle snow fall to the distant wolves howling in the wintery white forest, Christmas brings fourth such beauty to my mind and I hope it does to you as well.

Take a moment to step outside and look at the night sky. Perhaps you’ll see a sleigh soaring across the moon or hear the distant sound of bells traveling through the wind. If not, you can certainly take in the magic of the glistening lights and sense of wonder that fills the air.

Some of my best Christmas memories are being on the roof putting up twinkling Christmas lights on the eves. Sitting there watching the cars travel down the little highway through the hillsides. Hearing laughter echoing from the nearby neighbors. But most of all, believing.

After all… Believing goes a long way.

To you and yours, have a wonderful Christmas and Happy Holidays.

… Sam is coming to town!

So thrilled to have been the production designer on this latest FEARnet spot for the Trick ‘R Treat Halloween Marathon. Truly some of the most fun I have had working on a set. Mike is such an inspiring guy and the entire crew was a pleasure to be around. Getting to play a very very small part in the creation of a short inspired by one of my favorite Halloween movies was a dream come true. Enjoy!

Interior Design With A Sinister Twist

Being an art director and set decorator means I spend a lot of time looking at interior design. Whether it be for television, commercial or film, I usually have a stack of design magazines at hand to reference. During this time of the year I am always inspired by the use of black and gothic accents in design. So here are some favorites. Enjoy.
