Skulls from a crypt beneath a church in northern Italy. Light source is a single bare bulb within the crypt. Buried skeletons in the cemetary behind the church are dug up after a certain period of time and stacked neatly beneath the church to make room for fresh corpses.

Scarecrows…

When I first started setting up an elaborate Halloween display, about five or so years ago, I joined several large Halloween communities. I started to make a lot of friends, collected some amazing idea and always kept hearing about pumpkinrot. I never really knew what or who this was. I always thought that it was some form of style that people built stuff in. It wasn’t until I discovered pumpkinrot’s photos and scarecrows that I realized this was indeed a form of style, but more so, this was, from that moment on, my favorite Halloween artist. His craft of building some of the most unique and terrifying scarecrows has become a staple of the Halloween community. He continues, and always will, to set the bar even higher every year.

The craft of PumpkinRot.

Arachnids

I’m fond of spiders, yes I am,
or rather, nothing hold ‘gainst them.
I do not mind it when they spied,
as long as it is done outside,
or, at the least, not on my hide.
They’re elegant and lovely things,
and tops at easting pests with wings.
Still, while I like to know they’re there,
and snatching bugs out of the air,
I do not want them in my hair.
Small and jumpy, big with fuzz –
all of them are fine because
they stop their hexapodal kin
infesting my potato bin.
Just keep them, sweep them, off my skin.
